A new scheme has been launched to help improve the lives of people living on Droitwich’s Westlands estate

Moving Forward, paid for by £359,000 from the National Lottery Communities Fund, runs for three years with staff and volunteers based at the Westlands Community Hall in Droitwich 3 days a week offering local residents a helping hand.

The area has high education dropout rates but project leader Lynne Duffy said she hoped people would be more motivated to learn because the courses were being delivered on their doorstep.

“We want people to tell us what they want to move their lives forward and we will help them get it.”

Through its Seek and Reach Project Young Solutions will also provide mentoring and one to one support for young people not in employment, education or training.

Some people will also be trained to become active in the community so they can run and manage their own financially sustainable projects for residents on the estate.
