Young Solutions Developing E-learning Package

Working in partnership with Worcestershire County Council, Youth Focus West Midlands and the Big Lottery, Young Solutions are developing 6 e-learning basic/introductory Youth Work training modules. These include:
- The Basics of Good Youth Work
- Safeguarding Adolescents
- The Basics of Young Peoples Mental Heath
- The Basics of Dealing With Challenging Behaviour
- The Basics of Drug and Alcohol Awareness
- Planning Safe Trips and Residentials.
Young Solutions has engaged various writers to prepare the content of the modules and have collaborated with Red Admiral Learning who have designed and developed 6 CPD accredited e-learning modules. The results of cuts by local and national government over the past six years have re-shaped the face of youth work across the region. A major casualty has been basic youth work training for volunteers and paid staff. This has decreased drastically. Access to courses that have survived has become increasingly difficult especially for many volunteers. The problem of access is further compounded for those who live in rural areas who face considerable problems in attending face to face courses. The provision of e-learning courses will make it possible for the workforce development gap to be closed, ensuring the continued provision of support and opportunities for up-skilling to all organisations working with young people.
The e-learning courses will be introduced at Young Solutions AGM on 4th October and will be piloted in Worcestershire and three surrounding local authorities until March 2017.
There are a limited number of free courses available to people who would like to take part in the pilot. If you are interested please contact Andy andy@youngsolutions.org.uk.
