Introduction to Youth Work
This day course is designed to provide both experienced and new youth workers with a solid foundation in the principles and practices of youth work. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the role of youth workers, the challenges and opportunities facing young people, and effective strategies for engaging and supporting them.It covers key topics such as:
- What is Youth Work, and also what it isn’t – youth work process and curriculum
- Understanding young people – being a teenager, development of young people
- Working with young people – building relationships, roles and boundaries, managing group dynamics and adopting the best delivery approach
- Being effective in your practice – key tools and looking after yourself as a youth worker
