Funded by West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner, the Young PACT initiative worked in five schools located within high risk areas across the county, selected on that basis.

Each school adopted an individual approach, however in all cases, Young PACT’s aim was to help young people to identify issues that affect their safety or may be a cause for concern. The project empowered young people to have their say regarding issues within their communities.

Young PACT was facilitated by staff from Young Solutions, and involved police, youth workers, teachers, local authorities and other partner agencies.  Young PACT gave recognition to the fact that young people bring a different perspective to community issues and could develop new and exciting approaches to tackle these issues.

In each school young people were supported to identify which issues they felt were the most important, through a process of prioritisation. Following this, the young people formulated a social action project designed to address the identified principal problem and were involved in implementing the project.
