Protecting children and young people from exploitation is a top priority for Shropshire Council, West Mercia Police and the Shropshire Safeguarding Children Board. One of the key ways we do this is to provide training and advice on how to spot the signs of Child Sexual Exploitation and give people the confidence to report these concerns.
West Mercia Police Crime Commissioner commissioned the charity Young Solutions to deliver a free training programme to raise commercial sector awareness on Child Sexual Exploitation. This allows for the delivery of safe training in a non-judgmental way. It has been deliberately designed to be open to all people, whatever their background.
We would strongly encourage as many people from your business/organisation as possible to undertake this free training.
It has been well received by those who have already attended. A national charity on this topic, the ‘National Working Group’, has acknowledged this forward thinking programme to manage harm, risk, vulnerability and exploitation across any area, whether it be through policing, the council or safeguarding.
In order to progress this initiative, Mark Ellis, Safeguarding Co-ordinator from Young Solutions, will make contact with you in the next few weeks. We do, however, encourage the relevant person from your organisation to contact Mr Ellis directly on mark@youngsolutions.org.uk or 01905 795098 to facilitate the training arrangements.
